How to View Widgets on Mac
Widgets in macOS Big Sur and later are part of the Notification Center, no longer having their icon in the menu bar. To access Notification Center and widgets, click the time in the screen’s upper-right corner.
An additional two-finger swipe from the right edge of the trackpad on a Mac will also launch Notification Center.
There are two halves to the notification center. You can see all of your notifications at the top. (there’s a button to expand the Notification Center if you have more), and your widgets are in the bottom half.
To see all your widgets, scroll up. To interact with a widget or a portion of a widget, click on it.
Adding New Widgets on a Mac
Several widgets are added to the Notification Center by default in macOS. (like Calendar, Weather, etc.). More Apple and third-party app widgets can be added to Notification Center.
To add more widgets, open “Notification Center” and scroll to the bottom of the list. Then, click the “Edit Widget” button.
To access the widget editing screen, right-click on any widget and choose the “Edit Widget” option.
An interface with three panes should now appear. Every app that supports widgets is listed in the first pane. Widget previews can be viewed in the middle pane. Of course, your Notification Center is in the final pane.
To view a list of all widgets from all apps, scroll to the center pane. Alternatively, you can select an app to display only widgets from that particular app.
A live preview of the widget will be displayed in the middle pane. You can choose between Small, Medium, and Large sizes below the widget.
Once resized, click on the widget (or click the “+” button in the upper left corner of the widget) for the Notification Center to add it.
The widget will then be added to the widget list’s bottom.
To add a widget to a specific place in Notification Center, drag and drop the widget where you want it.
Once you add the widget, you can click the “Finish” To close the Notification Center, click anywhere on the screen, or use the button at the bottom of the Notification Center.
How to rearrange widgets on Mac
Rearranging widgets in Notification Center on a Mac is pretty straightforward. Open “Notification Center,” find a widget, and click and drag to select it.
After that, click and move the cursor to the desired spot.
Release the cursor to move it to a new location.
This works when you are in widget editing mode and only view widgets in Notification Center.
How to Customize Widgets on Mac
Like widgets on the iPhone and iPad, Mac widgets function similarly. You can change a widget’s data, styles, and other aspects after it has been added. If you are in the widget’s edit mode, click on the widget to enter the custom mode.
If you are using the Notification Center and viewing widgets, right-click a widget and select the option “Edit (Widget)” (this option is only visible if the widget is customizable).
The widget can now be tailored to your preferences. We will modify the Weather widget in this example. Select “Location” from the menu here.
Then search and add another location.
Click “Finish” when you are finished.
You should now see the updated widget in the Notification Center.
How to change a Mac widget’s size
As mentioned above, you can choose the widget size when adding it to Notification Center. You can also change the widget size from the Notification Center at any time.
To resize an existing widget, right-click on it. Here, select the “Small,” “Medium,” or “Large” option from the “Size” section.
The widget size will be updated immediately.
How to Remove Gadgets on a Mac
There are two ways to remove widgets from Notification Center. To quickly remove a widget, open “Notification Center,” right-click the widget you want to remove, and select the “Delete Widget” option.
Alternatively, you can enter widget editing mode by selecting the “Edit Widget” button at the bottom of the Notification Center.
Click on the “-” icon in the upper left corner of the widget to remove the widget from Notification Center.

– You can create custom iPhone widgets with different data parameters like calendars, reminders, etc.
– You can stack multiple widgets on top of each other (a feature not available on Mac).
